Fit to fight

If you'd like to be fit to fight or become fighting fit, I will give you the tools you need. Boxing skills & Kick boxing skills using focus pads/bags/gloves etc.
I have learnt from the best in the martial arts & boxing world. I have worked with the 'Padbox' training team & Mckenzie Boxercise.
As an ex International full contact kickboxer,I can create different programs that will test you to your limits or give you strength & confidence.
Martial arts was my first introduction to physical fitness and it's now seeing a resurgence in popularity. Why ? because little else can touch it for developing peak
fitness.
I'm not talking about your studio 'combat' class here, but techniques from the real artists. I have nothing against these classes of course.
No doubt you've heard of Billy Blank's Tae-bo, Bodycombat & khai-bo exercise classes. These are all spin-offs of martial arts techniques uniquely created for the
general fitness population. Although great for most fitness needs, these are fitness classes and are not to be confused with the teaching of actual martial arts.
I have taught Khai-bo which is  closer to the pure freestyle approach I enjoyed when practising kung fu self defence and kickboxing.I have taught with & for the
Khai-bo originators Troy dureh, now of 'Fight Club'. Fitness professionals with real martial arts backgrounds. So you can see I only tolerate effective applications!
I initially learnt my martial arts from Master Lajos Jakob Master of kung fu and self defence. As a Hungarian who fled the troubles there in the late fifties he soon
made his mark in the UK & was founder member of the british kung fu council established a reputation for himself which saw many stars & celebrities of that era
eager to hire him, Roger Moore in his James bond roles, amongst his list of tutored subjects.
The popularity of MMA (mixed martial arts) & Cage fighting, 'UFC' etc owes a lot to people like him with his vision & creativity.
Some of his ex-students have gone on to create some of the best MMA clubs around today.
If this is your thing & you are serious about doing it , check out some old training buddies of mine at Ultimate Challenge gyms, Eltham, South London.
Boxing is another great love of mine & I use padwork skills to great effect with many of my clients. One of the Key methods of training come from Padbox courses 'Padbox TM' is a brilliant instructor training company run by
Ian burbedge & Andy Scott. Ian an ex-amateur boxer & Trainer approved by 'British Boxing board of Control' is fitness coach to former British light welter weight Champion 'Lenny Daws' Championship boxer.
Andy Scott is a renowned sports scientist, who has coached world champion trampolinists & many future Olympic athletes from his extensive client list.
Many of their courses are run at the world famous 'Peacock Gym' in Canning town, East London.
As I said I only work with respected people in the industry.
Another key person from the Boxing fraternity is Ex Olympic, British & European Champion 'Clinton Mckenzie.
Check out his gym in South Norwood,SE 24 London . Mckenzie boxercise

Fit for Athletics

I spent my formative athletic years with Belgrave Harriers, one of the Premier Athletic Clubs in the UK. Many Olympic Athletes have emerged from this club
including John Regis , ex 200mt world champion. Who I've worked on a past project. Also had the opportunity to meet some other great athletes such as Olympian
400mtr champion Sally Gunnell, Daley Thompson, Tessa Sanderson & Steve Backley. So after competing in sprints & jumps I became an assistant coach which was
my stepping stone to becoming a personal Trainer. I can incorporate SAQ (speed & agility ) training principles into a fitness program for you.
SO ON YOUR MARKS, SET & GO FOR IT!

What is SAQ? (Speed, Agility, Quickness)
SPEED -"In scientific terms speed can be described as the time taken to cover a particular distance. If this is in a certain direction we can call it velocity".
SPEED - Although a great many gifted athletes have a genetic advantage this skill can still be effectively taught, and not just in a straight line either.
AGILITY- Agility is the ability to perform a set of complex skills random or programmed.
Important components of those skills being BALANCE & CO-ORDINATION.
Our bodies are controlled by the brain sending multiple complex messages down through our neuromuscular system which generates an almost seemingly instant response.
The better we train this system the better the efficiency of output our bodies can generate. The Faster we move ,The higher we jump ,The further we travel. The stronger we get.
The Olympic Motto 'Swifter,Higher, Stronger' sounds strangely close to this.
QUICKNESS - When at full speed , the athlete can travel the distance quicker. So QUICKNESS must be the ability to overcome the INERTIA required to reach that speed.
SAQ Training involves placing great emphasis on the neuromuscular system. Developing the responses required to make these actions  become instant and almost automatic so that your body responds without thinking.
As an SAQ Premium Trainer I will ensure you develop these skills in a safe and structured way.
I was involved in the Initial launch of 'Saq International' in 1994 at At Brunel University. Working with International athletes from many disciplines such as Women's Pole Vaulting,Thai boxing, Tennis ,Rugby, Premiership football etc.
The system is now used by the FA & is also widely used in the world of Rugby,Tennis, Cricket.
From the 'States' Michael Jordan an early innovator, used it in Basketball training, American football also.
SAQ - Today there are many versions of 'speed & agility' Training around that work from the same foundations that 'Saq International' laid in bringing the awareness of this system to the UK Fitness Scene and beyond.
So if you feel the need for speed & want to train like the champions! As an SAQ Trainer I will give you something different, an extra edge!

Fit to Run
Fit to run is about learning to run properly for any given type of running. Speed as descibed above is one method but more & more people are
getting involved in running events such as 5km, 10km, half marathon, full marathons & more, whether for fun, charity or both. It's very easy to
get carried away & think you can just turn up in any old trainers & just run! Yes have fun but there are a few things worth considereing to make it
as pain free an experience as possible. Then there's the technique of running - on the road - on the treadmill, it's not as straight forward as you think
especially if you are to avoid injury.
So let me help you to get the best from your preperation!

Fit for any sport

Fit for sport will employ all of the above elements in one way or another.
However every sport of course will have it's own challenges. Skill i will leave to the experts of that sport!
But to become fit for that sport can always be improved.
I have worked with or helped different clients in their sporting quests I have helped 'Richard' from Carshalton achieve his referees badge.
'Belinda' from Croydon a Junior GB Hammer thrower regain her fitness to compete after injury, Aided 'Kirstie' from 'Cheam' a fellow PT
to pass a boxfitness exam & much more. Have also worked with Netballers, Footballers, martial artists too.
So whats your sport or pastime you'd like to get fit for?
