Your childs fitness should be as important to you as your own. For many of us this is true, but we lack either the time or motivation to do this & secretly tell ourselves or they gey what they need from school. But most eduction curriculum commitment falls way short of our child's needs, so after school & sports clubs become the addition they need. Add up the minutes that your child is involved in regular physical activity each week & if it is less than 4hrs, your child is falling short. The challenge is of course encouraging that involvement on a voluntary basis outside of the school. Many of my clients have been families who need another outlet for activities for their kids & indeed the kids themselves.

The big word today is of course 'obesity' but that's only half the story. Getting fit is a must, as a result of becoming fitter, they can then have the added benefit of losing weight or gaining strength. Lets get the kids to enjoy everyday things like running , jumping , climbing, throwing, cycling, it's not just about sporting events to get fit. Although it's a great way to do it. Personal success that contributes to a team is great, so I will encourage each individual to aim for their own PB's (personal bests) so the competition is really about competing against themselves. After a while the natural urge to compete with others will come through, it's a lot to do with 'self confidence' perhaps as much as 90%!

Also eating healthily with the support of the family is key. So from 6 years to 16, I can put together & carry out interesting programs that they will enjoy. Whether at a specially equipped gym for youths, outdoors or at home.It may simply be for acknowledgement of the fact that they are aware of your goals & aims or it may be that they can also get involved.Fitness ideas can involve, boxing padwork, athletics, or fitness for any sport.I will encourage them to improve on their individual PB's (personal bests) more than competing with others. As before they can compete against others, they need to be able to compete against themselves!

What is absolutely key is you the parent, guardian or care MUST give your support & involvement, after all why should they do it, if you don't get involved too! getting involved does not have to be all physical, it's about being there, showing interest, & maybe even taking part too!

All training will be progressive, fun & linked to their favourite active pastimes, sporting heroes or what they would aspire to become!
